Christine M. Condo [she/her] (B.A., B.S., M.A.) was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder 1, also called "high-functioning" autism, in 2015 at the age of 42. She had started masking in her twenties, as yet unaware that she had autism or that anyone else had to do the same elaborate performance to fit in with those around them. Her autism diagnosis in 2015 answered some questions, but created many more. She was unprepared for the challenges in being diagnosed as an adult, suddenly rethinking her life experiences and the internal monologue they created.
Since her diagnosis, Condo has been published in The Washington Post and Autism Parenting Magazine and is a guest writer for the Organisation for Autism Research blog. She has been interviewed on radio and in multiple podcasts, and presented at autism conferences in Barcelona and London. Condo's professional writing focuses on dismantling misconceptions about autism and supporting the neurodiversity acceptance movement.
