Robert J Brennan is an accomplished highly versatile multi- genre British author of ten published books. He is primarily recognised across three distinct storytelling types. Tackling intense world community issues and systemic injustice, historical narratives and structured moral anthropomorphic childrens fables. While his adult books are frequently marketed under the broad banner of gritty social realism, his style directly inherits the DNA of the classic British kitchen sink movement of the late 1950s and 1960s. His books do not shy away from the bleakest aspects of daily life. He writes with a commitment to authentic local speech, capturing the exact rhythm, humour and harshness of working- class Liverpudlian dialogue rather than using polished, formal literary language. He is highly respected and well- liked within his home community of Merseyside and among readers of local British fiction. He dedicated twenty-eight years to public service as a local Councillor and served as the Mayor of Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council on Merseyside for the 1999/2000 millenium year. During which time he signed the twin sisters agreement with Fort Lauderdale receiving the key to the city. Robert built a distinguished career in the legal sector supervising welfare law and debt departments. Specialising not only in welfare rights but also housing, employment and mental health. He later brought this vital expertise to MIND the leading mental health charity in England & Wales, protecting the well-being of those experiencing crisis, stigma and discrimination. Robert continues to advocate for vulnerable people at social security and employment law tribunals. He is currently writing his eleventh book -an atmospheric Edwardian ghost story. Robert weaves his lifetime of standing up for others, his deep connection to his home city of Liverpool and his unshakeable belief in the enduring power of family truth into every story he tells.
