Laura Somerson

Laura Somerson is an Australian and New Zealand children’s author and the founder of Little Petal Press. She creates heartfelt picture books that celebrate childhood, strengthen family connections and help children understand the world around them.

Inspired by her own IVF journey, Baby-To-Be helps families share the story of how their baby came to be with honesty and care. Her Relatable Little Books series, including Counting Catnaps, Covered in Colours and C is for Chaos, finds warmth and humour in the sleepless nights, colourful messes and everyday surprises of raising young children.

Whether exploring one of life’s big moments or finding laughter in a small one, Laura writes stories to be shared, treasured and read again and again. She hopes each book sparks conversation, creates lasting memories and reminds families that the little moments are often the ones that matter most.
