Laura Somerson has always loved words. As a child, she wrote poems and songs, dreaming of becoming a songwriter. Born in New Zealand and now living in Australia, she found her true passion in storytelling.

As the founder of Little Petal Press, Laura creates books that bring families together - sometimes funny, sometimes heartfelt, always engaging.

She was inspired to write 'The Animal Says What?' after wondering about the sounds animals make beyond the familiar “moo” and “woof.” That curiosity led to a playful, rhyming book filled with surprising and hilarious animal sounds.

Laura enjoys writing stories that spark connection, curiosity, and meaningful conversations. She loves animals, nature, and exploring the world through the eyes of a child.
