Neil Ghosh grew up in Kolkata, India, where he started a grassroots organization at age 14 to help local children and youth improve their neighborhoods. That early lesson in service shaped a 30-year career leading nonprofit, philanthropic, and business ventures in more than 50 countries, including serving as CEO of SOS Children's Villages USA and SNV Netherlands Development Organisation USA.
Along the way, he met extraordinary people, from the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa to Malala Yousafzai and Muhammad Yunus. In Do More Good, with a foreword by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, he shares what thirty of these people taught him and provides tips and resources for turning concern into meaningful action. The book has been published in the U.S., India, South Korea, and Taiwan, and was a First Horizon Award finalist and a 2026 Eric Hoffer Book Award first runner-up.
Neil is currently traveling across the U.S. and globally to promote Our Ripple Effect, a movement that encourages people to take small, practical steps to strengthen their communities. His writing appears regularly on Patheos, and his work has been featured by CNN, the Washington Post, Devex, the Huffington Post, Fast Company, The Fulcrum, and Stanford Social Innovation Review.
