Brendan B Hanrahan

Dr Brendan B Hanrahan is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a General Internal Medicine Physician practicing in Australia. After graduating from medical school in 1998, he initially had little knowledge of dysautonomia conditions until an unexpected encounter with a POTS patient in 2012 changed the direction of his practice.

What started as a chance diagnosis led to Dr Hanrahan seeing increasing numbers of patients with dysautonomia, particularly as word spread through patient networks. The COVID-19 pandemic further expanded his patient population as Long COVID brought dysautonomia into wider medical focus.

Through treating patients with these conditions over the past decade, Dr Hanrahan has developed treatment approaches that focus on practical, systematic trials of established therapies. His philosophy centres on not wasting time during the often crucial years when dysautonomia typically affects young people's education and early careers.

Tired all the Time: Defeating Dysautonomia grew out of Dr Hanrahan's frustration with the lengthy delays many patients experience in finding effective treatment. The guide shares practical lessons learned from clinical experience, with the hope of helping patients and their healthcare providers navigate diagnosis and management more efficiently.
