Johnathan Kuehl

Hello, I’m Johnathan Kuehl, an artist with a lifelong passion for storytelling through art and animation. I’ve been drawing and creating art ever since I could hold a pencil. My parents couldn’t get me to put it down, and not much has changed! I eagerly took every art class available throughout high school, including an Independent Study class that helped me refine my skills. This journey led me to earn both a Gold and Silver Key in the National Scholastic Art Competition. While still in high school I also took college courses at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. Later, I graduated college from the Art Institute International with a BA in Media Arts and Animation.

Cartoons have always been my passion. I grew up watching lots of cartoons and still enjoy all kinds of animated work today. The different art styles, animation techniques, and the way characters come to life through visual storytelling continually inspire me.

Professionally, I’ve worked across various media from television animation and web content to video games, caricatures, comics, and children’s illustrations. Currently, I'm the lead designer, illustrator and animator for "Kampp Tales," a children’s brand that follows the outdoor adventures of a Midwestern family. In addition to Kampp Tales, I’ve created a series of Mother Goose-style nursery rhyme books for young children, which are the result of collaborative efforts with other talented artists from the Children’s Illustration Guild of Minnesota (C.B.I.G). I also have several other exciting kid's books in the works, so stay tuned for more information!

When I’m not creating art, I make time to relax and recharge. I enjoy reading books and comics, watching cartoons and movies, and spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, or traveling to new and exciting places.
