Gerald Jablin (1934 – 2013) was born in Brooklyn, New York as the youngest of four children. His mother was multi-generational American and his father had immigrated from the Ukraine as a young boy. After moving around some in his early years, including a stint in the army, he eventually settled down and lived most of his adult life in northern New Jersey. He worked in New York city in the advertising industry, although writing and classical music were his passions. The self-taught pianist has completed multiple written works including Promethean Heat, A Treasured Madness and A Compromised Existence, although publication came posthumously. He was married to his beloved wife Regina for 48 years until her passing. His son Jeff and family currently live in northern New Jersey. Gerald was an extremely private person who preferred to express his thoughts and views through written words. The few people who knew him well would describe him as a kind and caring man, deep thinker and philosopher of sorts.
