It came to me on a bus. Not exactly the expected locale for inspiration, especially a bus en route to a shopping mall, but inspiration is often immune to such things.

My background is as a TV News producer and later, a documentary filmmaker before turning my hand to journalism education. I was working in Prague when the pandemic hit. After it ended, I began traveling full time and enjoyed writing this book along the way. I tapped away on it across more than 20 countries in and out of countless cafes and AirBnB’s. Exploring all these delightful places and having wonderful adventures along the way. It all fed my work on this book.

As a TV News producer I’ve covered natural and man-made disasters alike. This journey had me living in exotic and exciting locales, the most bizarre of them all, Washington, DC.

Pursuing this flash of an idea as a novel presented an invigorating challenge. I hope you’ll see that in the resulting story.
