Katrina Smith was born and raised in Houston, Texas. The youngest of eight, Smith spent her childhood entertaining her siblings, reading, and creating characters in her head, which ultimately led to her love of the written word. An accountant by trade, Smith previously worked in the medical field for a short stint, during which time she became fascinated with organ transplantation. Since that time, she has become an advocate for organ donation, which is one of the inspirations behind the storyline in her debut novel, “Colorblind.” When she is not working, Smith enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, who affectionately refer to her as “Lolly.” She also enjoys writing and indulging in the work of her favorite authors, including Kimberla Lawson Roby, Sidney Sheldon, and Terry McMillan.
