R. J. Wieringa

Roel Wieringa is emeritus Chair of Information Systems at the University of Twente, The Netherlands, where he was responsible for the curriculum in Business Information Technology. His research focused on conceptual modeling, requirements engineering and design science methodology. He is the author of Requirements Engineering: Frameworks for Understanding (Wiley, 1996), Design Methods for Reactive Systems: Yourdon, Statemate and the UML (Morgan Kaufmann, 2003), and Design Science Methodology for Information Systems and Software Engineering (Springer, 2014).

After more than 20 years of joint research in business modeling and value networks, he started The Value Engineers in 2017 with Jaap Gordijn and Dan Ionita. Based on consultancy, coaching and teaching practice in TVE and at universities, they wrote Digital Business Ecosystems: How to Create, Deliver and Capture Value in Business Networks (TVE Press, 2023). Roel also writes blogs about business models, business ecosystems, and the networked society.
