Amanda Ramsey was born on the 28th of January 1994 in Blytheville, Arkansas, a small town 60 miles west of Memphis, Tennessee. She is the fourth out of fourteen children. Naming her siblings in order was her favorite party trick. Amanda developed a love of learning and reading from her mother. They spent many summer afternoons walking to the public library where she would read as many children's book as she could before going home. She fondly remembers getting her very own library card, though she wasn't able to check out books beyond the first time using the card because she didn't mind the return due date and never paid the late fees.
In her studies, she discovered Ernest Hemingway. His practice of writing 500 words a day unlocked the key for Amanda to finish her first book. 500 words a day was manageable and didn't take too long for her to complete. Writing 500 words a day became her daily penance. No matter what was going on, she could find time to write.
Her first manuscript was picked up by a budding book publishing company, under the name A.B. Ramsey. The B stands for Amanda's maiden name, Beal. Amanda was always inspired by J.K. Rowling as a child. She wanted to pay homage to the prolific writer in her publishings.
Amanda currently lives in Dallas, TX. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Rico. They share four children, Rico Jr., Amina, Pharaoh, and Noah. Amanda is currently working on her second novel, 500 words at a time.
