Born in Manchester to an Irish Catholic mum and a protestant dad from Glasgow, home life could be fiery but always fun. They were up for life having survived the war. A grammar school girl, I became a teacher, travelled and worked abroad in Copenhagen and then in Boston, where I strayed into working with difficult adolescents. Returned to the UK and settled for a while in London. Here I crossed over into the private sector, and after studying at the Sheffield Business School became a personal and organisation development consultant in the City, helping large banks, Insurance houses and legal firms with their people problems. I have loved every aspect of my career/s. Something of a maverick by nature, I enjoy challenging disciplines and crossing boundaries. My two books to date do this, I hope.
