I am a motivational speaker, author and founder of DNA Justice Project; a non-profit that focuses on educating the public and policy makers on the value of forensic DNA in the criminal justice system. At just 19, I was the victim of a home invasion assault that nearly took my life. For years my attacker remained unknown- until DNA evidence brought him to justice, ensuring he would spend 137.5 years in prison.
I testify all over the country to support legislation that will maximize the use of forensic DNA and advanced DNA technology, and have worked globally to spark conversations on how to come together to put an end to sexual violence.
I am inspired to do this work every day because of my incredible children and strong belief that every victim deserves justice.
Through healing practices of herbal medicine and teachings of yoga, I have found that beautiful, although difficult, transformations can arise out of the deepest traumas.
