Yvonna Graham

Yvonna Graham, M.Ed., started her career in education over forty years ago at an alternative high school in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Her experience with at-risk high school students convinced her that literacy is crucial to breaking cycles of failure. Later, when her daughter struggled with severe dyslexia, Graham returned to university to learn research-based reading instruction. She self-educates continually about neurodiversity in education. She actually likes reading research papers.

Graham taught in private and public schools, ran a tutoring agency, and home-schooled her dyslexic daughter, Dr. Alta Graham. Graham and her daughter co-authored Dyslexia Tool Kit: What to do when phonics isn’t enough, expanded edition (2021).

Yvonna Graham and Victoria Francis co-authored Never Too Late: Leveraging Technology to Support High School Readers with Dyslexia (2025, Solution Tree Publishing) This book is a fusion of Yvonna's research and experience with dyslexia and Vicki's expertise as a master teacher in a public high school. The ideas in this book have been tested in real classrooms with at risk students.

Yvonna feels especially honored to have been interviewed by three of her literacy heroes: Dr. Marion Blank (Reading Kingdom, author of Reading Remedy), Dr. Fernette Eide (co-author of The Dyslexic Advantage), and most recently, Dr. Sam Bommarito . The interviews are available on YouTube.

Graham received a B.A. in Psychology from Evangel University in Springfield, MO, and a Master’s in Special Education with focus on neurodiversity from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
