Dr. Gregory Hepner

Dr. Gregory Hepner is an extensive international traveler with a career spanning 50 years of ministry, social services, education, and military service. He has toured by rail, bus, ship. As a former marathon runner, he also toured by hiking, cycling, walking, and running. A retired United States Navy Commander, his travels include over 28 countries and living in a small Sardinian fishing village in Italy for two years.

Dr. Hepner’s academic credentials include Doctor of Philosophy (psychology), Doctor of Ministry (counseling), Master of Arts (literature), Master of Arts (management), Master of Divinity (biblical studies), and Bachelor of Science (physics and mathematics). His education and experience provide a unique blend of skills he applied in military and civilian careers.

Dr. Hepner is employed by a non-profit providing psycho-educational evaluations for over 30 school districts. He manages day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and finances. As a Visiting Committee Chair for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), he led accreditation teams in southern California, ensuring educational institutions met high standards.

He was a professor of literature for the University of Maryland (European Division) and psychology and counseling at Trinity College of Graduate Studies. He taught a range of subjects, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Placement Physics, Literature of the British Ilses, World Literature, and Psychology.

In addition, Dr. Hepner was as a teacher and Director of Instruction and Faculty Development at a Jesuit high school for eight years. As an administrator, he mentored, coached, and evaluated faculty, managed Federal Title funds, and participated in school leadership, and the accreditation process.

Dr. Hepner was a middle school administrator and teacher at an Episcopal school for nine years, where he coordinated school activities, built master schedules, taught physical science, algebra, and religious education, and was Chaplain. His leadership continued as Principal of a specialized junior/senior high school, providing educational services for learning-disabled and emotionally disturbed students.

Dr. Hepner had various roles throughout his career in the Navy and Marine Corps, providing counseling and social services to military members and their families. He oversaw ministry programs for surface ships, submarines, and aircraft squadrons, managed officers and enlisted personnel, and contributed to long-range planning and policy development.

A published author, Dr. Hepner contributed to numerous publications in science, religious education, and mentoring. Publications include Integrated Science (Physics Module), Physics Laboratory Manual, Which Way to Go: Learning to Think Ethically, Rhine River Cruise Preparation Guide, The Wurst of Times History and Meal Plans, articles in The Navy Chaplain, and several works published by St. Adrian of Canterbury Press.
