Ignacio Fernandez-Hernandez
Dr. Ignacio Fernandez-Hernandez has led the design and development of Galileo high accuracy and authentication services at the European Commission, DG DEFIS. He also chairs several international groups on GNSS resilience, PPP and authentication. Previously, he worked for the European aerospace industry as system engineer and EGNOS test manager, among other duties. He holds degrees in engineering from ICAI, Madrid; an MBA from LBS, London; and a PhD in Electronic Systems from Aalborg University. He is a visiting professor at KU Leuven, teaching satellite navigation and communications, and has been a visiting scholar at Stanford University, GPS Lab. He has co-authored over 130 publications, including patents, articles and a book on GNSS software receivers. He is the 2021 recipient of Institute Of Navigation's Thurlow Award. His technical expertise and interests include end-to-end design of navigation systems and services, GNSS receivers, cryptography and high accuracy.
