Tami Koss

Tami Koss spent more than twenty years teaching for the Department of Defense, living and working around the world and experiencing the people, cultures, and landscapes that would eventually inspire much of her writing. Having lived in seven countries, she brings a lifelong curiosity about people, learning, and the world around us to both her fiction and nonfiction.

Her Paie fantasy adventure series began in an unlikely place: a middle-school classroom. While her students were studying the East African Rift in Social Studies and exploring myths and the supernatural in English Language Arts, their conversations began spilling into homeroom. Together, they wondered what might exist deep inside the Rift. Tami started taking notes and told her students she would write a book. One book eventually became three: Paie: A Non-Gender Demon's Adventures in Africa, Paie: The Devil's Favor, and Paie: The Ethereal Kingdom.

Tami's writing extends beyond fiction. Drawing on her years as an educator and her doctoral studies, she has also written about mathematics, epistemology, artificial intelligence in education, and questions surrounding human knowledge and understanding.

Whether she's writing about a demon discovering humanity, helping parents understand their child's math homework, or asking how we know what we think we know, curiosity remains at the center of her work.

After more than two decades in education, Tami is now retired and finally has more time for writing, exploring new ideas, and asking the question that has followed her from the classroom into her books:

What if there's more to the story?
