Richard E. Petty

Richard E. Petty is Distinguished University Professor of psychology at Ohio State University. His research focuses on understanding attitudes, persuasion, and extremism. Author of 9 books and over 450 other publications, he has received numerous awards from various professional societies such as the American Psychological Association, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and the Society for Consumer Psychology. In 2025, he was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences.
