João Araújo is a Brazilian author, percussionist, composer, poet, and educator from Recife, one of Brazil’s richest cultural centers. His work is deeply shaped by the meeting of European, African, and Indigenous traditions that form the musical and literary identity of Northeast Brazil.
With two master’s degrees in Contemporary Literature and Theoretical Physics, João brings a rare combination of artistic sensitivity, academic depth, and practical experience to his books. Throughout his career, he has written essays on Brazilian culture, scientific papers, short stories, poems, and educational materials dedicated to the art of playing the pandeiro.
Now based in Munich, Germany, João teaches pandeiro and Brazilian percussion through online courses, private lessons, university masterclasses, and international cultural projects. Alongside his musical work, he also dedicates himself intensely to literary creation, writing poetry, reflective prose, short fiction, and texts inspired by memory, culture, spirituality, and the human experience.
His books invite readers into a world where rhythm, poetry, memory, and Brazilian identity meet with both passion and precision.
