Fiona Smith

Fiona Smith has put pen to paper for decades to express thoughts and ideas and to share facts. She started her working life as a journalist for a daily newspaper in South Africa, covering all beats and bashing out her copy on an old Olivetti typewriter. The lure of wider horizons was irresistible, and she spent many years travelling and working around the world. To hone her writing skills, Smith completed a creative writing course with author Mike Nicol and has gone on to write, illustrate and print her own short stories. Her passion for storytelling didn’t stop there and she went on to study at the International School of Storytelling in the UK. She has written and told her stories to audiences around the world.

Fiona has been working in the care industry in the UK for over a decade and The Live-in Carer’s Handbook is her first officially published work. She continues to work in the live-in care industry in the UK and is working on several writing projects.
