Louis A. Muno

I graduated college at the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. I had an interest in things maritime since being in the Sea Scouts in my home town of Rockford, IL. I learned to sail there in a wide spot on the Rock River. At Kings Point I was captain of the intercollegiate sailing team.

Married Michele (Donovan) and I took a job as data processing consultant. I was always a recreational boater, sailor, and racer. I got a Bachelor of Laws degree, and I got an MBA from the U. of Chicago. Michele and I raised a wonderful family – Mary, Tony, Steve, and Cathy. Have 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters (all perfect, of course). I loved sailboat racing, reading maritime subjects, genetics, biology, consciousness, etc. Am also into square dancing, and tennis.

Upgraded my licenses to 1600 Ton Oceans Master and Unlimited Oceans 2nd Mate and Master of Towing and Master of Auxiliary Sail. I also got myself certified as an offshore sailing instructor, and have taught and directed programs at several sailing camps and schools.

I continue to be interested in engagements as captain or mate on various types and locations of vessels. I have published 3 other books: Years Behind the Helm, Sailing Instructor’s Kit, and Navigation and other Nautical and Marine Worksheets.
