Steven M. Silverberg has practiced law for over fifty years. He started as a prosecutor in the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, which is the subject of his book "It's Only Manslaughter" and then worked as a town prosecutor in the largest Town in Westchester New York. After seven years as a prosecutor he went into private law practice, ultimately co-founding the law firm Silverberg Zalantis LLC which focuses on zoning, land use, municipal and environmental law. Over the years he has co-authored a book and authored a number of articles on various legal subjects related to land use and environmental law. After telling friends about his experiences as an assistant D.A. he was encouraged to write his book about those experiences.
