Dr Mallinson began his career in London, with IHCD Paramedic training and a Degree in Paramedic Science at the University of Hertfordshire. After working for the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust as a paramedic, practice placement educator and CBRN Operative, he went on to read Medicine at Warwick Medical School.
He continued his studies with qualifications in healthcare education, wilderness medicine and primary care. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, the Higher Education Academy, the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and the Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Healthcare (RCSEd). Dr Mallinson has published a variety of peer reviewed pieces of primary research as well as educational resources. He is also a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Paramedic Practice and senior faculty with the College of Remote and Offshore Medicine in Malta. Clinically he works as a rural physician and prehospital doctor in the Scottish highlands.
