Dr. Jorge Walter is the chair of the Department of Strategic Management & Public Policy as well as a professor of strategic management at the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB), where he teaches the strategic management capstone courses in the undergraduate and MBA programs as well as Ph.D. seminars on strategic management and social networks. He is the recipient of several teaching awards, such as the Peter B. Vaill Outstanding Doctoral Educator Award, the Outstanding World Executive MBA Faculty Award, the Outstanding Undergraduate Faculty Award, and the Dean’s Teaching Award.
Dr. Walter received his doctorate in strategic management from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, was a visiting researcher at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Stern School of Business at New York University. His research interests include strategy formulation and implementation processes, knowledge/technology transfer, social networks, and social capital. He has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, and Strategic Management Journal. Dr. Walter has served as associate editor of the Journal of Management and on the editorial board of the Journal of Management Studies. Prior to entering academia, he worked in corporate finance and strategic management consulting.
