Agustín Machío

Agustín Galán Machío holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid, where he completed his doctoral dissertation, Ignorant Modernity: Sociology of Ignorance, Ignorance of Sociology. He also holds degrees in Political Science, with a specialization in International Relations, and in Information Sciences (Journalism).

He has developed his professional career within the Spanish Public Administration, holding senior positions in institutional communication, public diplomacy, and knowledge management. Among other international assignments, he served as Communications Counselor at the Spanish Embassies in Mexico, Russia, the United States (Permanent Mission to the United Nations), Belgium (Permanent Representation to the European Union), Italy, and Portugal.

His research focuses on ignorance studies (agnotology), the sociology of knowledge, epistemic power, and the social and political implications of artificial intelligence. He is the author of several books and academic articles on the theory of ignorance, digital modernity, and algorithmic governance.
