Dr Ali Kouaouci

Ali Kouaouci is a distinguished sociologist and demographer with a doctorate from Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. He returned to Algeria to work with the University of Algiers and the University of Blida, where he helped to establish the Institute of Social Sciences and the first Master's program in demography in the country. His extensive experience includes serving as a project director for several national surveys with CENEAP, which were used by the government to monitor social and population policies. After 11 years in Algeria, he was admitted as a Fulbright post-doc fellow to write a book on family planning and contraception in Algeria. He has also been involved in evaluating family planning and reproductive health projects and has supervised over 10 operations research on youth and women.

Ali Kouaouci's academic contributions extend to his role as a lecturer and invited researcher at Université de Montréal in Canada, where he has also coordinated projects on population and development in the Sahel. His research has focused on various topics, including the Aboriginal population of Canada and adolescent reproductive health in the Sahel.
