Monika Killeen

I was born in 1976, in former Czechoslovakia. Discontented with the world shaping in Orwell’s 1984 vision, I left in 1995, eventually setting in London. I learned English as an au-pair and later studied law while a trainee in a city law firm. My academic journey continued with Masters with Merit in Classical history and Social Sciences. I am a Member of the British Psychoanalytic Council and the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I am a practising psychoanalytic psychotherapist and I am professionally active in London, UK and in New Zealand.

In November 2024, my debut novel, An Inflammable Act of Kindness was awarded the Finalist Award by the Independent Author Network Book Awards, in the novella category. In February 2026, my debut won its second award. The Book Excellence Award Winner in the women's non-fiction category for high quality writing, design and overall market appeal.
