Catherine Garney

Catherine Garney is a registered clinical nutritionist and a certified GAPS practitioner. She runs a private practice based in Tauranga, New Zealand called Nutrition for Health NZ, which she established in 2012. Catherine consults with clients both in person in Tauranga and online from all over New Zealand and internationally.

Catherine’s area of specialisation and interest is gut health, children’s health, and fertility nutrition.

In 2015, Catherine was fortunate enough to attend a 2-day GAPS practitioner training in Sydney with Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride, who is the author of the books 'Gut and Psychology Syndrome' and 'Gut and Physiology Syndrome'. It was at this course that she trained to be a certified GAPS practitioner and has, for the last 9 years, been helping clients with the GAPS Nutritional Protocol.

Catherine’s interest in fertility comes from her own heart-breaking journey with unexplained secondary infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. After 10 years of secondary infertility, Catherine conceived naturally and gave birth to a healthy baby girl at age 44 against the odds. After a failed IVF at age 41, her fertility doctor told her the devastating news that her eggs were too old, and her only hope was to use a donor. This left her determined to go within and literally turn herself inside out to try to work out what was wrong. Nutrition and gut healing played a big part in this journey, so Catherine created her book 'Healing from Unexplained Secondary Infertility' as a useful resource to benefit others.

Catherine's extensive knowledge about fertility, gained over the last 10 years, motivates her to help others experiencing infertility, particularly secondary infertility. Her area of focus is preconception care for both females and males and investigating unexplained and secondary infertility holistically.
