Beth Sharp

Beth Sharp is a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) and is certified in Low Stress Handling for cats and dogs. Through her business Train Great Dogs, she offers training and behavior help to build collaborative relationships between people and their pets.

With a soft spot for pets in need, she has fostered well over a hundred dogs for rescue groups and shelters since 2007. She conducted free training classes for those who adopted from a local high-volume shelter and has supported rescue programs through a variety of volunteer activities including fostering, behavior consultations, writing successful grant applications, and giving presentations.

The dog that started it all was a stray named Cooper who went on to become a registered therapy dog. Beth and Cooper visited patients in hospitals and nursing homes, and helped children develop reading skills at local libraries. Beth was the trainer on the set for Cooper who had a small role in Jim Stovall’s feature film The Lamp based on his novel of the same name.

She shares her life with one human, two rescue dogs, a cat, a rotating cast of foster dogs, and at least one colony of honeybees. Her most recently adopted dog allows her to accompany him as he begins his own therapy dog career.

Think Like a Dog, co-wirtten with bestselling author Jim Stovall, is her first book.
