I like taking pictures about humanity. I’ve been a people watcher all my life and I am always striking up conversations with strangers I meet in my daily life, so continuing in this vein with a camera feels natural. When I was in school to get my AA in Photography, I gravitated toward the street.
My book Relative Strangers highlights the unseen connections in the everyday. Many of the photographs are presented as diptychs that weave narratives between images that tell stories of a shared humanity. While the people in the photographs are strangers, I find by comparison that they are often related. Many of the photos were taking in the Bay Area, including San Francisco, Palo Alto and Woodside.
