Paulette, aka Pawlina on Nash Holos, is descended from Ukrainian immigrants who homesteaded in Saskatchewan. After moving to Vancouver in 1988, she connected with the local Ukrainian community and became a key figure in the launch of Nash Holos, a groundbreaking Ukrainian radio program that has become BC's longest-running. In 1995, she launched Ukrainian Food Flair on the radio with Sylvia Molnar, sharing recipes and cultural stories with listeners. After Sylvia’s passing in 2015, it was a bittersweet pleasure for Paulette to resume their cookbook project at Sylvia’s sister’s request, preserving their shared legacy.

Sylvia was born and raised in Vancouver to Ukrainian immigrant parents, whose heritage inspired her lifelong passion for cooking. Her culinary journey began in childhood, earning her the nickname "Magic Cookie" for her early kitchen adventures. As a teacher of art and music, she integrated cooking lessons into her classrooms, sharing her love of food and culture with students. Sylvia ran a catering company, founded Sylvia’s Cooking School, and shared her recipes through radio, TV, and publications. She passed away in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of food, culture, and inspiration.
