James Cairns

James is a writer who works from Johannesburg. His self-penned solo stage shows, The Sitting Man and Rat toured all over South Africa to rapturous critical and audience acclaim. For TV he wrote for two seasons of Drawing the Line, The Most Amazing Show, So You Think You Can Dance, Crazy Games and Silly Seasons.

His short story Ossewa Mulaudzi won the Vlaams-Nederlands Huis de Buren's 'Writing Beyond the Fringe' competition in 2009. He won a Silver Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival for the script of the WW2 drama, Sie Weiss Alles.

With The Meat Room, he makes a welcome return to writing.
