Dr. Roderick McIntyre - Author of How I Made It Over

Dr. Roderick McIntyre is a man of deep faith, resilience, and purpose. He was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He overcame a childhood marked by adversity to become a leader and role model in both his community and his profession. Married to his wife and best friend, Tammye McIntyre, for 32 years, they share three children: Roddrelle, Krayvon, and Michael. Dr. McIntyre is a licensed minister and a dedicated servant of God.

With an impressive career, Dr. McIntyre retired from the Dallas City Attorney's office after 31 years of service in 2022. He now serves as a full-time educator for Richardson ISD, where he continues to impact the lives of students and fellow educators. Dr. McIntyre holds a doctorate in education and educational leadership, as well as a double master’s in Christian ministries and theological studies. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, equipping him to guide and mentor others through his extensive knowledge and experience.

In his memoir How I Made It Over, Dr. McIntyre reflects on his life’s journey—from growing up in the projects of Shreveport to battling a serious illness as a child and ultimately finding his purpose through faith. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance, obedience to God’s will, and trusting in divine timing, even when life presents unexpected challenges.

Outside of his professional and ministry work, Dr. McIntyre is passionate about mentoring the youth, public speaking, and traveling. He enjoys playing basketball, bike riding, and exploring life’s many adventures. Through his life, Dr. McIntyre strives to serve as a message of hope and inspiration, always seeking to embrace more of what life has to offer.
