Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, I’ve always carried a deep love for family, community, and adventure. I made a mid-life move to Wellington and enjoyed ten years living in the cultural capital before my husband and I made our home back up north of Auckland on Kawau Island in the Hauraki Gulf, where we ran a hospitality business for nine years. Those years gave us the privilege of meeting people from all over the world—connections we still cherish today.
Family is at the heart of everything I do. Together, my husband and I have a blended family of five wonderful adult children and seven lively grandchildren, ranging from babies to teens. They keep life full of joy, laughter, and constant inspiration.
When the New Zealand winter sets in, we spend time abroad, having embraced the Workaway lifestyle. This unique way of traveling has allowed us to live with local families in Spain, France, and Italy, trading a helping hand for unforgettable cultural experiences. Italy, in particular, has become a second home, where we return each year to spend time with a dear friend, alongside visits to Spain to be with our son and his young family.
My career journey has been as varied as my travels—beginning in marketing and advertising in the newspaper industry, followed by 15 years as a flight attendant. Later, owning two hospitality businesses gave me a front-row seat to the stories and energy of countless vibrant young people from around the globe.
Beyond writing, I’m passionate about art, pottery, cooking, and fishing—whether casting a line into a rushing river or out at sea. Most of all, I treasure time spent with my ever-growing, beautiful family.
