I have been working with, writing and presenting on data for more than 40 years, my favourite data topics now being the measurement of data quality and quantification of the business value of data. My experience stems from the oil & gas industry in both geoscience as well as data management roles that range from specialist work in micropaleontology with statistical approaches to geological computing and data management, crafting policies and solutions as team lead and later as principal data consultant for a multinational company. I have worked mostly in Malaysia but also abroad in The Netherlands and The United States of America and have carried out data audits in various countries (Brunei, China, Norway, Australia and UAE). I also present at data management conferences and have published a number of technical papers on the subject.
