Chris McClain Johnson

Award-winning Southern author Chris McClain Johnson started writing stories as a child, inspired by the beauty and wonders of her family farms in Mayfield, Kentucky. After graduating from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, she settled in Memphis, Tennessee, where she continues to write stories, poems, music and essays. Her debut epistolary novel Three Guesses, released June 2025, is the recipient of Regal House Publishing’s 2023 Fugere Book Prize for Finely Crafted Novellas, winner of the 2026 Next Generation Indie Book Awards for Novella, with three placements in 2026 Eric Hoffer Awards: Honorable Mention in General Fiction, Grand Prize Short List, and First Horizon Debut Author Award Finalist.
