Artena Moon

Dr. Artena Moon is a kitchen table mystic, retired Army Captain, and Emergency Communication Coordinator with the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. She blends professional expertise in leadership and crisis communication with a lifelong dedication to spiritual exploration, community service, and healing.

Dr. Moon holds an EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California, dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Organizational Leadership, and a bachelor’s degree in Management. She is the author of Return of the Shaman: Re-membering Our Sacred Gifts, which chronicles her personal healing journey; 7 Steps to Interoperability: ICL Workbook for Public Safety & Business Professionals, a professional training manual for emergency communication leaders; and Tacklebox for the Soul: Spinners, Spoons, Baits & Lures, a spiritual guide written for her sons and fellow seekers.

As both a scholar and a mystic, Dr. Moon bridges the worlds of civic duty and sacred practice. Her writing weaves together ancient wisdom, practical tools, and heartfelt storytelling, offering accessible guidance for modern readers on the path of awakening.

Artena lives with her husband Ken, dog Carl and cat Walter. Five grown children with families are thriving nearby. She still loves her work, reading, studying ancient texts and rituals, and sitting by CAP, her loving rock, on the shores of Folsom Lake.
