Andrew Meyer has served as an entertainment industry executive, film producer and

educator. He has served as the President of Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss’ A&M Films,

Robert Redford’s Wildwood Productions, and Norman Lear’s Act lll Productions. He is

currently a Professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Mr. Meyer has just released The Meyer Chronicles, a Podcast series based on his

experiences in the record and film business.

Notable among the many films he has produced, Fried Green Tomatoes was

nominated for two Academy Awards (Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting

Actress), a BAFTRA award and several Golden Globe nominations.

Mr. Meyer developed and produced The Breakfast Club, named by Entertainment

Weekly as “The Best High School Movie of all Time”. Mr. Meyer, in co-ordination with

Universal Pictures toured the country in 2015 promoting the 30th Anniversary

re-release of the film with a digitally enhanced print.

Mr. Meyer is the Executive Producer of BRING ON THE NIGHT starring Sting which won a

Grammy.

In1981 he convinced the owners of A&M Records, Herb Alpert and

Jerry Moss, to start a separate film division, A&M Films, to take

advantage of the exploding film soundtrack business. As President of the

newly formed company, Mr. Meyer acquired and developed the

feature film Birdy, which his company produced, directed by the iconic

film director Alan Parker, starring Matthew Modine and Nicholas Cage. Birdy

was selected as the recipient of the Grand Prix Special Jury Prize at the

Cannes Film Festival.

Recognizing the importance of merging music and movies, Mr. Meyer developed

and produced The Breakfast Club and gave John Hughes his first

directing deal.

Mr. Meyer continued his success in film, producing such movies as Better off

Dead (directed by Steve Holland, starring John Cusack), Bring on the Night

(directed by Michael Apted, starring Sting) and Breaking In (directed by Bill

Forsythe, starring Burt Reynolds). Mr. Meyer also produced One Crazy Summer

(directed by Steve Holland, starring Demi Moore and John Cusack), and Pyrates

(directed byNoahStern, starring KevinBacon and Kyra Sedgewick).

Mr. Meyer continued his filmmaking career working withRobertRedford as President of

Wildwood Productions. During his tenure as President, Wildwood produced The

Milagro Beanfield War(directed by Robert Redford, starring Christopher Walken and

ReubenBlades) and PromisedLand (starring Keiffer Sutherland and Meg Ryan).

As President of Norman Lear’s Act III Productions, Mr. Meyer developed and produced

Fried Green Tomatoes, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted

Screenplay.

Mr. Meyer developed screenplays with such notable writer/directors as Ron Shelton

(White Men Can’t Jump), Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner), David Rayfiel (Three Days of

the Condor), David Ward (The Sting), Joan Tewksberry (Nashville) and Michael Hoffman

(The Last Station).

In 2010 Mr. Meyer sold the pilot script for Vinyl to Showtime.

At the same time Mr. Meyer was producing movies, he turned his attention to teaching.

He taught screenwriting at the Graduate Program at the University of Southern

California, and was an Adjunct Professor at UCLA, teaching record business

fundamentals.

Mr. Meyer joined the Film Faculty in the School of Entertainment Arts at the Savannah

College of Art and Design in 2004.

Mr. Meyer has also been a Guest Lecturer at SXSW, Bucknell University, UCLA and USC in

Los Angeles.

He is the author of “Dancing on the Seats”, a step by step guide to college concert

production published by Billboard Publications.
