Barb Drummond

Barb Drummond wants to live in a world filled with inclusive education, access to essential services for our friends with diverse abilities—and where books come bundled with a mint chocolate bar and a killer cup of coffee.

Barb is a best-selling author, speaker, writer, and guest panelist, recently interviewed by CANVASREBEL online magazine and featured on CBC Radio’s Radio Active. Her debut memoir, I Finally Have the Smoking Hot Body I’ve Always Wanted (Having Been Cremated), received incredible reviews from CANREADS, LITERARY TITAN, and won an International Impact Book Award. As a guest panelist at the Edmonton Opera, Barb offered personal insight on Alzheimer's, storytelling, memory, and caregiving.

She and her husband run four Tim Hortons restaurants and an office complex in Northern Alberta, where Barb also finds time to write, take online courses, and research topics such as Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Barb holds certifications in cutting-edge techniques that strengthen brain function for individuals facing cognitive challenges, trauma, and memory-related issues. She is an SOI Practitioner, an IPP (Integrated Program Protocol) Specialist, and a provider of TLP (The Listening Program).

Barb and her husband, Gord, received the Premier’s Council Award for Employment Excellence for their dedication to inclusive hiring practices and advocacy in creating barrier-free communities where individuals with disabilities can thrive. They were also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from TDL for their work and leadership in their communities.

They live in Peace River, Alberta, alongside their four adult children: Annie, Emma, Harrison, and Clark.

Barb's future to-do list includes: more books, more blog posts, possibly a master’s degree, and—if the stars align—an uninterrupted nap. Oh, and shake a few trees in the name of transforming dementia care in Canada. No big deal.

Ten percent of all book sales are donated to the Alzheimer's Society.
