Bu?ra Giritlio?lu

Buğra Giritlioğlu founded the queer publishing house obiçim yayınlar in 2021. Through obiçim, he’s published 13 books of poetry and prose by 23 authors, including Bonbon Bönbön, the Turkish translation of the poetry chapbook Bun by Tom Clark and Pulitzer finalist Ron Padgett. In addition to his novel Çapkın Gezgin’in Ukdeler Kitabı (2023) [The Lovesick Globetrotter’s Book of Chagrins] and three collections of original poetry (2016, 2019, 2021), Buğra’s translations appear in such literary journals as Chicago Review, Mantis (Stanford University), and Middle Eastern Literatures. He holds a BS (Cornell) and MS (MIT) in materials science and engineering, and an MA in ethnomusicology (Istanbul Technical University). Buğra has sung with many choirs in the USA, UK (BBC Symphony Chorus), Netherlands (Laurenscantorij), and Turkey. He also enjoys playing the piano and oboe. He went vegan in 2012.
