Anna Dawson combines her passion for supporting children, young people, and families as a registered Social Worker with her professional and personal experiences of calamities and worst-case scenarios. She attributes these experiences and her personality traits to her vast capacity to hold space for families in the depths and provide ongoing hope and support.
Anna is the mother of an adult son and daughter and stepmother to an adult stepson. She knows firsthand, from professional and personal experience, how difficult it can be to raise children and young people who struggle with mental health and addiction. She and her husband supported their three children as they individually struggled with a range of issues, including mental health and substances. Her stepson passed away in 2023, at age 22, from his ongoing battle with mental health and substances. Since losing her stepson, Anna’s calling to help families not feel isolated and find some peace during difficult times has intensified rather than diminished. She’s more passionate than ever about finding flexible, accessible, and innovative ways to deliver quality mental health support to children, young people, and their families in the ever-changing Australian landscape.
Anna lives with her husband, son, cat, and two cheeky labradors on the land of the Kabi Kabi people, the seaside suburb of Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. She is also a foster carer for Labrador Retriever Rescue Australia, and it’s not uncommon for her to have another friendly wagging tail at her home.
