Alberto Gatti is an Italian industrial designer in the lighting sector and an author. After a long career as an independent professional, he has developed a cross-disciplinary vision that brings together industrial design, product culture, and technological innovation. He currently works as a Project Manager and technical-commercial lead.
Over the years, he has complemented his design practice with continuous study and experimentation in artificial intelligence applied to industrial processes, predictive maintenance, and more recently to creativity and manufacturing design. This research led to his books Predictive Maintenance and Artificial Intelligence in Industry 4.0, Artisanal Intelligence, and Strategic Artisanal Intelligence, which examine the relationship between advanced technology, craftsmanship, and real-world production contexts, with a practical and hands-on approach.
He is the founder of Exegno, a virtual laboratory born from his experience in lighting and expanded into manufacturing design, where artificial intelligence is used as a design-support tool rather than a replacement for expertise. Exegno is a space for research and experimentation in which technology serves to amplify design thinking, also extending into artistic and cultural fields, while keeping human vision, skill, and craft at the center.
Alongside his technical and editorial work, Alberto is the creator of cat – local satirical cartoons, an artistic and narrative project dedicated to proximity satire. Through a distinctive graphic style and an ironic visual language, cat portrays local politics and public life, shifting the focus from the national level to everyday realities, where decisions directly affect communities. The project combines drawing, critical observation, and social storytelling, and over time has evolved into a recognized form of visual publishing.
Beyond design and writing, Alberto is actively involved in cultural and artistic initiatives, including event organization, music, and visual experimentation. His work represents a synthesis of tradition and innovation, technique and storytelling, with the aim of demonstrating that craftsmanship, technology, and critical thinking can coexist and continue to generate value over time… even through satire.
