Carena has been writing stories since she was a child and always won prizes for her essays and stories at school. It was nearly always a book voucher that was first prize, with which she built up her home library of her favorite books. She loves anything with a happy ending. Her preference is particularly westerns and historical with a touch of romance and lots of excitement and adventure.
Now published is Book 2 in the Brides Bound for Oregon series. She co-wrote Book 1 in the series with Quinn Carno, who also publishes books under the name of Sadie Conall – an established author in her own right.
Carena has written several books, but these languished in a briefcase for many years and were never put into digital until recently this year, when she decided to go forward with them, spending a lot of time editing them to bring them into line.
Now, recently published is one of these books - "The Reckoning" (an 1874 western adventure) - and Carena is working hard to pull the next one together which is a modern romance based on a background of motor racing.
Carena loves horses but does not ride anymore, taking an interest in all things equestrian around the world, following her favourite riders in eventing, dressage and showjumping avidly. She rode for many years and bred her own show horses. A back injury soon put paid to her equestrian career and that was about the time she developed her writing into a more serious pastime.
She also plays the bagpipes, and has done for 43 years, learning when she had two small children and was farming with her husband on their dairy farm. She has played all around the world with various Bands and in different countries, including the famous Edinburgh Tattoo! But now she just plays with a couple of small country bands who visit and perform for retirement homes, hospitals, markets and groups of interested fans - giving listening and toe tapping pleasure!
