Edwin L Martin

Edwin Martin was born on the tiny British colony of Montserrat in the Caribbean. He migrated to the United States at age 10 and entered the journalism field at age 18 while attending Miami-Dade College and writing for the student newspaper, the Falcon Times. He later attended the University of Miami, then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in print journalism from Florida International University in 1994. Edwin worked at the Miami Herald from 1986 to 2016 in numerous roles, including copy editor, reporter, feature writer and online producer. After leaving the Herald he published his first book in 2017: "Stranded Batsman: The Jim Allen Story." In 2019 he launched the online blog Montserrat Spotlight, which features stories about Montserrat's culture, history and people. Edwin is an avid sports fan who also sings calypso as a hobby.
