Jonathan’s first adult experience making art was a workshop on drawing pencil portraits. Ten years later, he is still doing portraits — human, animal pets and wildlife — having traded lead pencils for the subtle colors of pastels. During the isolation of COVID, Jonathan took comfort in sketching animal family portraits. As that portfolio grew in recent years, it morphed into the children’s book series Child of the Wild: Animal Families in Portraits and Poems. In winter he sketches in Sarasota, Florida. During the warmer months he and his easel reside in the woods of Westminster, Vermont.
