His career in utility software began in 1994 at Central Service Association in Tupelo, Mississippi, where he worked as a communications specialist before moving into marketing. In 2009, he became the Chief Business Development Officer.
In 2022, Smith launched RWSmith ETC, LLC, focusing on education, training, and consulting in the utility sector. He also started writing the story of Joshua Booker, utilizing his lifelong passion for creative writing.
