Michael E. Miller

Professor, Designer, Innovator. Currently a professor of systems engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Mike has 30+ years of experience designing human friendly devices and teaching human systems integration. He and his students research human interface technologies and algorithm development for human-AI agent interaction. He created and has taught a course on Human-Agent Teaming for over a decade. Mike has worked with team members to design the first-generation IBM Thinkpads, handwriting tablets, systems employing gaze tracking as a mouse replacement, user interfaces for digital cameras and immersive imaging systems, and image processing for digital cameras, photofinishing systems, and OLED displays. Among his proudest contributions is inventing and leading the technical development of the RGBW technology that enabled LG’s OLED Televisions. Mike has contributed to over 100 issued U.S. patents, 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, and numerous conference papers. He is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the International Council on Systems Engineering, and the Society for Information Display.
