Eric Alston

Eric Alston was born in Lancashire. He attended school in Bolton and afterwards Hatfield College, University of Durham. He worked at a paint company before joining a Bradford chemical company, Allied Colloids, and moving with his family to Mytholmroyd. He was a member and later chair of St. Michael’s Amateurs and directed many plays and musical productions. He became chair of Royd Regeneration and introduced the first Christmas market to Mytholmroyd. On retirement he took up woodturning as a hobby. He has been active in his local church of St. Michael’s for many years, serving as churchwarden and also as treasurer. At home, he, and wife Lesley, brought up two children, Joanne and Richard, and are grandparents to Joanne’s son Huw, as well as Richard’s two sons, Otis and Tollo.
