Martyn Agass

Born in the south west of England in 1969, I'm the last UK generation to remember the world where children played in the streets. The world of the late 1970's has now vanished, but lives on inside those of us who still remember. This feeling of a lost era gave rise to my desire to chronicle the time through my childhood memoirs.

Since late 1979 I've played D&D with my brothers and friends, and now with my sons. This has given me 46 years of building stories and living them out, and has provided much authentic material for my fantasy novels. I prefer to keep the action moving along, so opt for a more Sword and Sorcery pulp fiction approach to the genre. Think early Moorcock rather than Tolkien.

Career wise I have been a teacher for just over 30 years in all types of schools, including private international and state schools. With such a rare and colourful career as a classroom teacher, I again drew upon my real life experiences to write my teaching memoirs.

I try to keep all my writing upbeat, and to keep the pace moving along. I'm not trying to re-create epics like War and Peace.

In the end my books are a legacy for my sons and any future potential grand children, but they are also there for anyone else to enjoy. I hope you do.

In the future I may write another fantasy novel, there are still so many untold stories from all our years of tabletop gaming. My dedicated games room is surrounded wall to wall with miniatures, each with a story of their own yet to tell.
