Eileen Buckholtz is a Computer Scientist, author, and STEMinist. She is Director of the Queens of Code Project, with a mission to put NSA's pioneering women in technology into the history of computing and to inspire more women to pursue STEM careers. Eileen was drawn to computing at Ohio State University, graduating in 1969 with one of the first undergraduate degrees in Computer and Information Science in the country. She earned her MS degree in Computer Science at the University of Maryland and CIO Certificate from the National Defense University. For over thirty years, she had an exciting and distinguished career as a Master Computer Scientist with the National Security Agency, serving in a variety of technical leadership and management positions in emerging technology, project management, and planning. Eileen is also the author or co-author of over 40 books including the Micro Adventure series for young adults and romantic suspense novels for adults. She was a Brooking Institute Legis Fellow in the office of Senator John Kerry. Eileen is the author of Queens of Code, Inspiring True Stories from NSA's Computing Women, a forthcoming title from MIT Press in Fall 2026.
